EDF entrusts MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES and COMEX NUCLEAIRE with the supply of 3 new steam generators

EDF has just awarded a new contract for the supply of three 900Me type of replacement steam generators to the industrial consortium constituted by the Japanese MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES Ltd.(MHI) and the French COMEX NUCLEAIRE, a subsidiary of ONET TECHNOLOGIES. It is the 9th replacement steam generator ordered by EDF to this consortium, following 6 Steam Generators ordered to MHI with COMEX NUCLEAIRE support, and 3 have already been delivered and are in operation since June 2009 at the Unit 1 of Blayais Power Station. The next 12 steam generators will be delivered between 2011 and 2016.
MHI is in charge of the designing, the procurement and the manufacturing in MHI Kobe Shipyard and Machinery Works. COMEX NUCLEAIRE is mainly in charge of the calculations and behaviour analyses, but also of the surveillance regarding the French and European sub-contractors and the engineering compliance with the new ESPN regulation.
